Adirondack Mountain Club Laurentian Chapter offers this hike, a circular route that climbs and descends the Eardley Escarpment on faint paths, passing a couple of small lakes. 7 miles, 1000 feet gain, strenuous. Contact John Barron for details.

Friends of Ogdensburg Public Library Corp. will hold its Fall Book Sale Nov. 1-3, with Bag Sale on Nov. 10th. Friends is also holding a Silent Auction, featuring holiday gifts, original works of art and treats donated by local merchants and individuals.

Doors will open at 5 PM Thursday, Nov. 1. Current Friends members will receive half-off from 6-8 PM Thursday. Silent Auction items will be available for bidding the week of the sale, with winners contacted after 2 PM on Saturday, Nov. 3rd.

Children (especially age 5-8) are invited to this program, which is sponsored by the the Irving Bacheller Society, the English honorary at St. Lawrence University. Costumes are encouraged!

Find out how the hard work of bending metal to your will is accomplished at Blacksmith. Children will get to talk to a real blacksmith and find out how he does his work, as well as make a craft. A fun and free program for kids ages 4-10.
