Second Sunday Classics

Join host Paul Connett on the second Sunday afternoon of the month from 4 to 5 pm for a wide variety of of the best in classical music accented with critical works from other traditions.

Paul Connett has had several programs on North Country Public Radio since he joined the faculty of St. Lawrence University in 1983. In those days the radio station was located right next to the chemistry department where Paul taught.

Paul’s programs have included a weekly series entitled Music and Company, which frequently included guests; another entitled Hooked on Voices which featured a different voice each week from many different genres and yet another entitled A Collectors’ Choice. His latest incarnation is the program Second Sunday Classics which is broadcast from 4 to 5 pm on the second Sunday of each month. Most of the music selected is classical but Paul doesn’t hesitate to include music from other areas, including Jazz, folk, pop, ethnic and even the spoken word. When her busy schedule allows, Connie Meng is Paul’s engineer for the program and she often adds some comments and insights on the music played. Paul is eager for people to do know that he is not a musician (he cannot read or play a note) but he does bring his enthusiasm to the matter based upon over 50 years of listening to both live and recorded music.
