Pataki Announces State Workforce Reduction Plan

Governor Pataki has announced that he'd like to reduce the state workforce by 5,000 jobs, in order to help close the combined $11.5 billion dollar budget deficit. State lawmakers object to Governor Pataki's plans to raise tuition and cut student aid at New York's public colleges and universities. Silver Blames Pataki for Poor 911 System

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver blamed Governor Pataki for failing to set up a 911 cell phone emergency locating system. Silver says that failure contributed to the death of four teenagers in the Long Island Sound last month. Karen Dewitt reports.  Go to full article

Lawmakers Question Proposal to Close State Psychiatric Hospitals

Fiscal Experts Analyze Pataki's Budget Plan

Governor Pataki has said that he's pushing for deep spending cuts in his new budget because he does not want to repeat mistakes that were made in the early 90's.
