Oscar Wilde, (1854-1900), had a diverse literary output, but his greatest talent was writing a series of popular comedies. "The Importance of Being Earnest" appeared in 1895 and has retained its popularity ever since.  Go to full article

Theatre Review: "The Tempest" at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival

It's generally agreed by scholars that "The Tempest" is Shakespeare's last play. One can see the play as Shakespeare's farewell to the theatre, particularly Prospero's famous speech that begins "Our revels now are ended."  Go to full article

Theatre Review: "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival

The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival's season this summer features "The Tempest" and "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" as well as a Sunday afternoon series of smaller productions and solo pieces.

The outdoor venue overlooking the St. Lawrence River is perfect for a summer afternoon or evening. In the adjacent park there are also picnic tables for those who want to make a day of it.  Go to full article
