Ebb and Flow
For the second time this year I have had two real possibilities for a job or internship at the same time. This last time was especially frustrating.
Scenario One:
An internship for an NGO that would take place in a different country. The deal breaker is that I would have to pay my way. After looking closer at my school loans I just couldn't swing it.
Scenario Two:
An internship at a daily newspaper but that position was "eliminated," in the newspaper industry I can only imagine why.
The frustration continues.

I'd love to know which local newspaper is laying off workers and "hiring" interns to replace them.
No wonder the newspaper industry is in such bad shape.
I would encourage you to not only not take that "job" - which would basically amount to being a scab - but to do the right thing and out the newspaper for its outrageous labor practices.

I think she meant it the "internship" was eliminated, not the full time staff position. The papers probably would not hire an intern if they fired staff photogs, just make the other photogs work more or give more assignments to reporters with point n shoots. Hey, its good enough right?
