Questions for Sen. Betty Little

I'm interviewing state Senator Betty Little this afternoon about the budget crisis in Albany and the potential fall-out here in the North Country.

This is your chance to jump into the conversation. What do you want to know about her positions, about the process, about the way Albany works?

If you have a question, comment away and I'll do my best to ask it.

Since it's somewhat related to "how Albany works" I'd be interested to hear her thoughts on the Joe Bruno trial and how her name made it onto legislation favorable to one of Mr. Bruno's "clients" when she had no knowledge of the actual legislation.

Only one question for Betty.

What does she think about the Hoffman-Dede conflict - whose side is she on.

If she supported Janet and Dede against the Glen Becks of the world I did not hear it - why was she silent when here friends got into the battle of the decade - northern NY wise.

I think she is the main loser in the 23rd cong race conflict as she refused to support her (I assume) friends or take a stand.

Could you ask Sen. Little what she sees as the best way to promote development within Adirondack communities. The long-term answer to NYS's budget woes is to try and foster a business friendly atmosphere in upstate NY. Yet any development efforts come up against a hail storm of regulatory hurdles. Today I read a story that the APA, without any prodding by the legislature or the gov., have decided that they want to make the agencies strict development standards even more strict! These agencies have been very successful in their efforts to drive jobs and people out of the ADK park. What we need to do is find a way to lure them back.

Constituents are tightening their belts as expenses go up and income goes down (or disappears completely)

Why don't our elected representatives show the same level of fiscal responsibility at the state level?

Why can't politicians propose unpopular but necessary spending cuts?

NYS residents are suffering because politicians don't want to take responsibility for unpopular cuts or 'cut out' their financial supporters.

I had thought after the majority-leadership-tug-of-war from a few months back, state politicians would step up to the plate and show that they aren't reckless and self-centered after all.

Please explain why not cutting the budget and making hard decisions is the right thing to do...

Betty how do you feel about cuts in the area of education that do not directly impact students. For example; teachers centers and other expenses where students in classrooms are not effected. As a followup; Is there any mandate relief that could save the state money that you could support

I'm not in her district, but I'd like to ask her if she'd support term limits since that seems to be part of what leads to grid lock in Albany. I'm also interested in knowing when the Legislature palns to grow up and act like responsible adults. We need a business friendly atmosphere, some tax reform and some spending cuts.

It is likely too late for your interview, but I'd like to know why voters should reelect her or any of the Senators currently in office? What is she, or any of them, doing to earn our vote?

How does she reconcile her professed belief in smaller government with her tireless advocacy for the prison-industrial complex's dominance of NNY's economy?

I realize it's a little off topic (as least off your topic), but:

Why does she think that a couple who have been married one week deserve more rights because they are heterosexual then a couple who has been together for 20 years but are gay or lesbian?

Why does Betty Little care about what happens in people's bedrooms?
