So how was voting today?
Jonathan here.
I'm hoping to talk with some In Box regulars about their voting experience today.
I just went to the polls and had the kind of unsatisfying/frustrating experience lots of people are talking about (no privacy, no way to check the machine read my ballot correctly, etc).
So, for those In Box contributors who have a few minutes, call me.
My direct line is (315) 229-5360
Or you can e-mail me at jonathan@ncpr.org.
I'd love to have a few of your voices on All Before Five this afternoon.
Thanks

the old machines were better, my vote was kept private, now you vote where everybody can walk behind you and see what you are doing, and after you run it thru the scanner it falls into a box, and its kept where? for how long? and just who has privvy to my selections, the ballots are identifiable, they had to search for mine before I could vote....I don't like this system at all...
The 23rd CD race brought national attention to Northern New York — Upstate New York covers 80% of the state — but I heard that some "news media" outlets were couching their coverage in unncessary commentary.
Starting my career at The Watertown Daily Times a week after high school graduation, I learned to write what happened, accurately and fairly, and leave my opinions out of it.
Bill Owens' victory speech was refreshing and uniting, which is what the district needs. Competition is fine, in politics and in other walks of life. Rancor and nastiness are not.
As for my voting experience, I just moved back to Virginia from Maryland, still within the Washington, DC, area. Voting was easy at my polling place, simpler than in Maryland in recent years, and I met a couple of local candidates after I voted.
I was a little grateful that I no longer had to cover the elections.
Best wishes,
