Scozzafava's husband backs Democrat Owens; former Sen. Meier backs Hoffman

The NY Daily News is reporting that Republican Dede Scozzafava's housband, Ron McDougall, is backing Democrat Bill Owens.

McDougall is a well-known union organizer and activist and described his move in those terms:
"This has been a difficult day for my family. But the needs and concerns of the men and women of the 23rd Congressional District remain paramount," McDougall said. "As such, I wholeheartedly and without reservation endorse the candidacy of Bill Owens."

“As a life-long labor activist, I know that Bill Owens understands the issues important to working people. On the other hand, Doug Hoffman has little regard for the interests of workers."

"Hoffman’s opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act, coupled with his support for the failed policies of the Bush Administration make him a poor choice to serve the citizens of the 23rd Congressional District.”

Scozzafavas husband is a Union Hack, his support of the liberal special interest political hack Owens is no surprise.

McDougall's backing of Owens further underscores the fact that Dede was not qualified to represent the Republican party. Why did McDougall have to say anything at this point? Couldn't he have kept his mouth shut for a few days until the election was over? I think it's petty payback for Scozzafava's loss and he's speaking for her. She should have stayed in the race and Hoffman would have won. Now she and her husband are trying to rally people against Hoffman.

Voters in NY23 should phone people they know personally in Lake Placid to find the core values of Mr Hoffman - never won a local village, town or county election and would NOT get elected in my opinion - since he has the deep pockets to be able to run for Congress does this make him smarter all of a sudden?

The fact that came out recently that he does NOT read the local papers means he has tunnel vision for his core issues such as Pro life and is out of touch with NY23 people which surprisingly has gone for Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama, Spitzer, Aurbertine and Murphy the last few elections in primary and main elections

Mr Hoffmans customers are successful larger scale NNY business owners who have managed to build but it is an elite minority, well insulted against the recent ups and downs of the economy
