Murdoch: Governor "blind...doesn't really know what's going on"

On a Wall Street Journal video out today (I found it here), newspaper and television magnate Rupert Murdoch blasts New York's legislature as "totally incompetent."

But the sketchy bit was his description of Governor David Paterson:
"The Governor is a very nice, honest man, blind and can't read braille and doesn't really know what's going on. It's not a joke, it's a tragedy what's going on at the moment."
That description isn't only crass; it's crass and inaccurate. Paterson may be politically ineffective, but no one can fault him for not identifying and responding early to the economic crisis.

Indeed, the Governor seemed to know what was going on with the economy long before many of Murdoch's newspapers.

Good blog entry. Everyone in Albany knows what's going on. It's just the governor is the only person that's had the intellectual honesty to acknowledge it and push for change since early on. He's had time convincing the children in Albany but that's more their fault than his.

This is not the first time that Gov. Patterson's physical blindness has been used as an attack against him by his detractors.
Heck, even the fairly liberal cast of SNL did a bad sketch mocking the Govs blindness.
I support and applaud Patterson's efforts to herd the cats in Albany.

the cast may be liberal the content is not. The Joe Biden opening last week was hilarious.

The Governor may be legally blind but what is Murdoch's excuse for being deaf, dumb and blind? Could it be he can't think or see beyond his stacks of money?

I'm glad to see that Governor Paterson is getting some positive comments. I've listened for quite awhile while he said it like it was and made some hard but real statements about the situation we're in and all we heard was negative comments from the populace and legislature.

The blind jabs are just cheap, easy and crass. If it wasn't blindness but some other physical attribute, people like Murdoch would probably be using whatever it was to make their lame points.
