Limbaugh: Scozzafava guilty of "bestiality"
The liberal website Media Matters has captured audio of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh attacking Republican Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava.
Scozzafava dropped out of the NY-23 house race over the weekend.
According to Limbaugh, Scozzafava is "guilty of widespread bestiality" for her support of Democrat Bill Owens.
It is, by Rush's lights, the punchline to a joke. He suggests that Scozzafava has "screwed every RINO in the country."

LIMBAUGH: Scozzafava has screwed every RINO in the coun -- we can say that she's guilty of widespread bestiality. She has screwed every RINO in the country. Everyone can see just see how phony and dangerous they are. You know, 2010 might be a nightmare for PETA. Two animals may become extinct; RINOs and Blue Dog Democrats. Pelosi's gonna kill off the Blue Dogs, and the conservatives are gonna finally get rid of RINOs. The American people have had enough.

What a sad, pathetic man he is. Even sadder,he has a base of faithful listeners who believe every work he says.
This bizarre, angry, and cruel comment by Limbaugh will ultimately be regarded as changing the outcome of this election. Republican moderates will be offended to such an extent that they will turn away from Hoffman, especially in DeDe's district.
Once the major networks get on this story, it will generate a huge and irreversible negative backlash.... can't wait for the national news.
No surprises here. I wish I could agree with Anonymous 5:50, who predicts widespread outrage, but I am sure the media will yawn, no one will pay any attention whatever, and American politics will sink deeper into the mire.
At least he didn't call her a "bag of meat".
This will matter just as much as when Obama was making fun of the handicapped. Actually it's rather funny to see all the indignant libs get the heebie-jeebies over something said about someone they couldn't have cared less about a month ago.
It is a little bit funny, in a crude sort of way.
But ultimately it just shows the hypocrisy of the ideologues. They can't figure out if their targets are irrelevant specks of dust to be ignored or the root of all evil to be crushed mercilessly.
That's why, unlike most of the left, I don't get too hot and bothered by Limbaugh, Beck and their ilk. They don't really change anyone's mind. They just preach to the converted. If hatemongering were more popular on the left, they'd be touting the liberal ideology. They're just mercenaries. It'd be foolish to take them too seriously.

i'm sure you have better things to do than to worry about the opinion of another anonymous commenter, but i do find it disappointing to see a conservative like yourself -- one who clearly wants to be taken seriously around here -- so glibly condone rush's comment.
i don't think what rush said is the end of the world, and i'd even give him a point or two for some clever word play in there. and i have to confess a bit of a soft spot for off-color jokes. but what he said is still clearly unacceptable.
as you note, what obama said about the special olympics was also unacceptable. i think both obama and rush were riffing on jokes, and they happened to step over the line. it's easy enough to do -- i know it's certainly happened to me on several occasions. and it's also something i find easy to forgive when the offender realizes s/he has made a mistake.
in obama's case, he apologized right away to the chairman of the special olympics. will rush do likewise? will hoffman condone his comment? i'm sure dede's phone number isn't hard to find.
HT, did anyone ever apologize to Sarah Palins family after accusing them of lying about the new baby, or the people that said he was result of incest? Did Murtagh ever apologize to the American troops he accused of war crimes? Did anyone on the left ever actually apologize for anything? I doubt it, and I doubt Limbaugh will apologize either.
I don't care what was said, it means nothing. Sticking both feets in your mouth is a common human failing. I like Dede and I will still like Dede after this is over. She's a big girl who knew what she was getting into. What gets me is the double standard applied to the right that is excused in the left.
And thank you for at least coming up with a screen name. I don't know you, but at least I "know" you.
The big problem is that while the regular obnoxious comments by people like Limbaugh do coarsen the debate, a fact rightly bemoaned by Brian Mann, the knee-jerk outrage shown to such comments is exactly the sort of oxygen these loudmouths thrive upon, nay require. They require the slings and arrows of the 'enemy' (ie: other Americans) to validate the martyr complex and grievance politics they peddle. If civilized people regardless of ideology were simply to ignore them, they would be nothing more than a big fish in the small pond of far right yap media. The scorn of the 'enemy' is what elevates their national profile (to say nothing of each outrageous comment) far beyond what they'd otherwise have.
Rush Limbaugh could not get past high school. That says everything you need to know about this person's character or abilities. He has a gift gab that is all. He lives on pain killer highs and travels abroad for s$ex/pros_titution. Vulgarity personified...

Rush Limbaugh earns a $427 million contract for such comments. That's twice the A-Rod contract.

If Hoffman does lots of drugs like Rush and Beck and A-Rod, I'll vote for him.
Because that means he'll be successful at whatever he does.
I find it odd that so many otherwise kind hearted people can be so vicious towards a man who is handicapped by complete deafness and who got addicted to pain medications due to the incredible pain he must have been going through.

Hmmmm....compassion toward Rush Limbaugh - an interesting thought. You reap what you sow and I don't ever remember Rush showing compassion for anyone. He and his fellow conservatives can be compassionate - if you agree with their world view. If not, then you're a ___(insert your own derogatory expletive here)____.
I was raised to believe that you treat others the way you wish to be treated. The Right is so fond of touting Jesus and the Bible as its guide to their moral lives yet they so often fail to actually practice what they preach. I guess that why so much of what they say doesn't ring true to me.
Who gets to decide what litmus test one has to pass to call oneself a Republican? Dede is getting skewered because she strayed from the party line. It is a sign of a weak organization if its members aren't allowed freedom of thought.
