Is Dede getting the last laugh?
Through the NY-23 race, Conservative Doug Hoffman was the media darling, gobbling up huge amounts of free air time from right-wing radio and TV outlets.
Conservative web and print operations backed him as well.
But in the weeks since the election, Scozzafava has emerged as a regular voice in the national media, featured in Politico, New York Now, and coming up this weekend on CBS's program Face the Nation.
Scozzafava's perspective retains a profound relevance as Republicans consider a "purity" test for future candidates that would require them to sign-off on conservative values before winning GOP support.
Conservative activists have also threatened to "scozzafava" other moderate Republicans in New York and around the US.

As long as potential "republican candidates have the 'Palin test' applied I'll stay with the republican party. What's the 'Palin test'? Simply put; are they nothing but a quitter like she was(see resigned as Gov.).
Heee, heee, heeeee, heeeeeee, haw, hawww, hawwwww, oh, ohhh, whewwwww, heeee, heeee, heeeee...whew!
I hope to hell that's Dede laughing.
Go Dede, go Dede, go Rogue and go Dem!
Contact June O'Neill, our fair "maiden from Morley. She's got some kind of juju.
And keep getting that last laugh!
A purity test? A Palin test? Well, if that's the case, then centrist voters will never swing in under the Republican tent. Good news for the Democrats if the Republicans manage to split the opposition vote. But is it good news for the country? All the talk about RINOs certainly doesn't seem very helpful. By the way, when did the terms POTUS and FLOTUS become so popular? Is it a conservative quirk? Seems a pretty snarky way to refer to the President and the First Lady. but I digress.....
POTUS first appeared in print in 1925. W. Saffire wrote about seeing it on phones during the Nixon Administration. The acronym SCOTUS was often used: ( Supreme Court Of The United States).
I am afraid the Twitter Generation will lead to more and more of this. The Dumbing Down of America. Blame everyone for allowing that to happen-Everyone.
Barry Goldwater is the founder of the modern Conservative Party. But even he would not fit the " smell " test today. The following is statement alone would get him banned.
Interview, Washington Post (28 July, 1994
* When you say "radical right" today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others who are trying to take the Republican Party away from the Republican Party, and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye.
And really, the new Conservative has moved to the Right of Right. And it all goes back to Roe v Wade. That is its placenta. No matter what they say. Not about money, or debt or anything else. That is their bottom line..
I think Hofman got the last laugh-All the way to the Bank.
He was probably the most surprised person of all to think that people would not only vote for someone who does not live here, but send him money to do it. Who woulda thunk it?
Little difference to me between Dede, Sarah or anyother public figure who profits from their celebrity be it Oprah, 50 Cent or Larry Flynt. It's justy a way to use your bully pulpit. Wish I had the chance.
I would hope that Ms Scozzafava would see the writing on the wall and not bother running in 2010. Any sane republicans wouldn't even consider voting for a Benedict arnold like her, shes a traitor to the republican party and should probrably go democrat since she is with them anyway. I know i wouldn't vote for her if paid
I suspect Dede can run and serve as long as she wishes to do so. She has won by large margins over several election cycles. Suddenly, she is a bad representative because a bunch of outsiders say so?
The real traitor in this is Doug Hoffman who was a sore loser in the selection process, then bolts the party. I won't forget that fact!
When I was a college student I looked momentarily at the fraternity scene and quickly concluded that the requirement that I throw my thinking capability into the frat house trash can and happily suffer ignorance heaped upon me by those in the clique was beyond my ability to abide.
I find the thought processes of the "conservatives" closely parallels the frat cliques. Regardless of what the USA does in the world the conservative clique invariably comes down on the "USA is always right" side. The most amusing thesis propositioned by the Republican party is that they are the "big tent party" and all are welcome within it's walls. Absolutely as long as you sign up for their "our way or the highway" theme as you enter the tent. I prefer the highway; it appears Dede did as well.
Could I offer again the comment that todays Republican Party is NOT conservative and that many conservatives want nothing to do with the Republican party?

Bret4207, it's me, F.G.E., again.
My fellow traveler, you just keep setting them up for the Libs to hit out of the proverbial ballpark.
Please, read 3 times before posting. Leave it to the Libs to just scribble away with sheer dreck and then immediately fire off their illogical scatology.
Are you saying that there was once a time, in the long ago, when the Republican Party was actually Conservative? Quote: "Today's Republican Party is NOT conservative."
Was that when Sen. Machine Gun Joe McCarthy was hunting Commies in the U.S. of A.? Or was it when that vermin exterminator from Texas, "The Hammer" Tom Delay was the majority whip?
Also, you appear to be giving the lazy Libs hope the the Rep/Con empire will split, giving the Dem/Lib rebel alliance hope in numbers? They will hallucinate that the force is on their side.
We are reading you Mr. Bret4207.
The more we read the more we wonder, are you one of those plants from ACORN, quite possibly even a HAZEL-NUT?

" todays Republican Party is NOT conservative"
You are who you vote for. Conservatives overwhelmingly voted for Bush/Cheney in 2000 and 2004, and McCain in 2008. As Beck and Hannity and Rush ranted on their shows for all to do. Their legacy is the legacy of conservatives. Unles and until there is a Conservative Party candidate, then you are part of the Republican Party. Avery important part. The base. Don't run from your past, explain where you went wrong and what you will do differently and why anyone should believe you.
of course the republican party isn't conservative. conservatism never fails, it can only be failed.
A conservative is nothing more than a Monday Morning Quarterback with 20/20 vision. If the guy they supported behaves badly and governs poorly then they say he was not a conservative. He /she was just a RINO. It is a great game plan. You can never lose....Brilliant!!
We've had poor candidates to choose from for decades on the right hand side. No doubt conservatives vote for the Republican as the lessor of two evils, but that seems to be changing. I'm done with it. I'll "waste" my vote on a third party rather than support the Democrat-lite ticket.
20/20 hindsight? Nope, I'm steady on course in being an all round conservative. As money tightens (I'm currently broke) I'm just more convinced you can't spend you way out if a lack of funds.
You guys, even the eyebrow, can sit there and poke and prod all you want. You think stealing other peoples money is just fine and dandy. I don't. Plain and simple, more money in your and my pocket means more money to support the economy and our families. Arguing otherwise is useless.

Let the DemLibs have it Bret4207.
In our representative govt (no taxation w/o representation!), when the Dems are elected by the people to represent them, all taxes revenue that is subsequently raised for the public commons is actually money being stolen from your wallet and from my foreign bank accounts!
It's time for a tea-party! Let the king and his cronies know that we won't take it anymore.

PS. I hope Dede had the last laugh, because Doug Hoffman, like the South, will rise again.
Sic semper tyrannis
Oh Great and Powerful Eyebrow! Please, be merciful and explain to your poor miserable servant which of the numerous Gov't programs that are over staffed, over budgeted, not fulfilling their purpose, are otherwise duplicated and a huge drain on our collective pocketbooks are worthy of keeping? Your miserable wretch of a servant can't figure out which are good and which are bad....
Getting this back on thread.
Will Dede run for political office again? And will she run as an Independent? The Republican Party has thrown her to the curb. There are NC voters who still like her.
One thing that I've noticed is that the national media is still covering Dede and her debate with what is left of the Rep/Con party.
Dick Armey's "Club for Hair Growth" or whatever, donated
$700,000, to Douglas Hoffman.
Here's a recent headline: Scozzafava, FreedomWorks chair Dick Armey debate GOP litmus test on 'Face the Nation'
There is no love lost here.
Dede getting the last laugh?
I hope at least that Dede is smiling in an enigmatic Mona Lisa kind of way.
Your miserable servant awaits your answer O Great and Noble Eyebrow....
Arise, good and lowly servant. You present a really good question for being such a wretch.
I stand stunned and surprised that you have the gall to question the noble insights of Sir Eyebrow of Gaffney.
But this is most certainly a tough nut you present for cracking.
Dede apparently didn't have the right answers that the RepCons are looking for.
GW Bush didn't have the answers that the RepCons were looking for.
D. Hoffman, "the lessor of three evils" has the correct answers, but only 20 - 25% of "true Americans" at the national level believes as he does.
Bret4207, man of low station, as you have said previously about the other 75% of voters who don't agree with the RepCons, they are "Sheeple" blindly following along.
Dede is just another one of those sheeple you mention.
She's laughing - baaaaaahahabaaaaahaha, or however American sheep laugh.
Oh Wise and All Knowing Eyebrow, (and might I add the magenta eye liner is particularly appealing today against thy alabaster skin!), but what of the duplicate, inefficient and ineffective Gov't programs that drain the pocketbooks of your people when distributed by our Good Shepherds in Albany and Washington? Would not the schekles from those bloated programs be better spent building a Monument to Thous'ts (SP?) Greatness, or perhaps assisting your aged and infirm worshippers with their heating bills or bridges?
Don't worry about me, I've got mine and that is all that I'm concerned with. Me, jack. Just me.
BTW, the eye-liner that you mention is made from a rare viper's venom costing $5k an ounce. Almost the same amount as Elliot Spitzer's dates. (Dede laughs)
But I am gladdened that a red-blooded, American hetero such as yourself notices such things. Do you secretly crave a Gucci purse and some Versaci heals? As a man's dominant eyebrow, I believe it is nice to spice things up once in a while. (Dede laughs)
Anyway, if you wish to know which govt. programs are bloated, big fat bureaucracies, heavy on the administration, light on aid to the people the programs were originally designed to help, contact the Pentagon, known for their "good business" practices, and ask them about Kellog Brown and Root, Blackwater Security, Halliburton, Raytheon, Boeing, GE, Lockheed, and a hundred other cannibals feeding on the public's backside, to the tune of trillions of dollars.
Oh, but as for programs like welfare and WIC, and agencies like the FDA, HUD, OSHA, SEC, FCC, FAA, and that incompetent Secret Service, I'd like to see them all drowned in a bathtub, just as envisioned by my friend, grover norquist's eyebrow. (Dede laughs)
See. Dede keeps getting the last laugh.
She must be a witch!
Oh Omnipotent Eyebrow, you toy with your wretched servant. We beg of you, The All Wise and All Knowing, to bestow upon us a coherent argument against a line by line review of the entire budgets of both Sodom (NYS) and Gomorrah (Washington). Your humble and obedient servant awaits the answer from on high.....
frank gaffney's eyebrow, allowed me to post that he will be "off the air" for a while.
he's on a sabbatical 'til after the New Year.
on vacation in Monte Carlo.
XXXsOOOs to all.
