House Republicans promise Hoffman Armed Services Committe seat
Matching a pledge that they made to Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava, the House GOP leadership has now promised to offer Conservative Doug Hoffman "the next available" seat on the House Armed Services Committee if he wins Tuesday's vote.
Here's the full statement issued today.
“Doug Hoffman has our full support for the next available seat on the House Armed Services Committee so he can best serve the interests of Fort Drum and the troops and military families of New York’s Twenty-Third Congressional District.
“The strategic and economic importance of this military base to Central and Northern New York demands that anyone representing this district be in a position to support its needs.
“John McHugh’s leadership on Armed Services was a great asset to the people of the North Country and Doug Hoffman is ready to carry on that legacy as their next congressman.”
New York’s Twenty-Third Congressional District encompasses all or part of 11 counties throughout the central and northern part of the Empire State. The district includes Fort Drum, home of the Army’s 10th Mountain Division. Over 12% of the people living in New York’s Twenty-Third Congressional District are military veterans."

Moderates and centrists aren't real Republicans. They shouldn't be allowed in the Republican Party.
Just "Good Ole Boys " at work. Same old same old. "Hey Dougie, you just do as we say and we will take care of you."...LOL...And all those Conservatives minions honestly believing anything is different. You don't have to be a career politician when the people that pull your strings are.....Hey all you conservatives, I got some Oceanside land for you in Arkansas. lol
It is now official. Republicans/Conservatives put Party politics ahead of the United States of America. They would put someone with no experience, one totally unqualified, to be on one of the most important Committees in Government, solely because he is a good follower.
It reminds me of the Bush appointments. Does " Your doing a helluva job Brownie" ring a bell?
people need to know 2 things regarding doug hoffman. if he gets this congressman job, hoffman will take a pay cut (remember he's a CPA). secondly remember this: the most "dangerous" person is the one who doesn't need the money.
I would urge Hoffman to stay true to his routes and politely decline. Be a man Doug, have some backbone.
Oh, BTW- if we want to talk about putting party ahead of the country we're going to get real bloody here because BOTH sides are guilty of that.
Doug has a ton of military experience. After all, he was in the National Guard during the Vietnam War.
Bret, wth is true to his routes?
Okay, so my typing stinks. "Roots". I would like him to stay the conservative, not Conservative, course. If he wins and just joins the Repub RINOs then I'll be among the first to call for his replacement, I can assure you of that.
