Hoffman "un-concedes"
Conservative Doug Hoffman says he's "un-conceding" the North Country's Congressional race that ended two weeks ago.
He made his remarks today on Glenn Beck's radio show.
Democrat Bill Owens was unofficially declared the winner of the race with about 5,000 more votes than Hoffman. That margin has narrowed, but Owens is still around 3,000 ahead of his Conservative opponent.
Hoffman is looking at absentee ballots and says there's a long shot he could still pull off a victory in this race. Approximately 10,000 absentee ballots went out. It's not clear how many were returned.
Counting of these ballots begins today. Results aren't expected until Thursday, at the earliest.
Tune in to All Before Five today to hear parts of Hoffman's conversation with Glenn Beck.

I see he's STILL more interested in being the darling of the national far right media than having anything to do with the local rubes.
Is there a precedent. "Contested" races have dragged on..see Al Franken...but I can't find an instance where a candidate was sworn in, took his seat and then later was ousted following a recount. I suspect it must have happened sometime. Looking on the 'net for precedent I can find only the Supreme Court decision that the Congress could refuse to seat Adam Clayton Powell even though he was properly elected.
I didn't want Hoffman as my rep, but after this, I REALLY don't want him as my accountant.
Hopefully he will just go on and maybe become the key grip for the Glenn Beck show and stop polluting the 23rd.
Sadly, it's way past time for Beck, and his ilk ,to get a grip.
Is anyone really surprised? Talk about flip flops. Mr. Hoffman seems to have written the book on them (and perhaps will in the future!)
What's wrong with you folks? If you love America, you will hope and pray that Hoffman is triumphant in the final vote tally.
A few days back, I quit watching Keith and Rachel on MSNBC. I've been blogging Dredge, er...I mean Drudge and tuning in to the Beckster. Glenn's tears, spilled daily because of the tyranny of Obama's America, are like drops of honey dew for true patriots.
If only Nate Barker, self-professed Conservative/Libertarian, editor of the Gouv. Times, would run this headline tomorrow - HOFFMAN WINS 23RD! OWENS TRIED TO STEAL ELECTION -
If that happens i'll be able to sleep at night knowing that my stockpile of ammo and my guns are safe. And no muslim imam is going to be taking my bibles away (yes, bibles, one can never have too many). Gggggggo Hoffmannnnn!
Gee, didn't Al Gore concede and then unconcede? While I mean no disrespect to Hoffman by the comparison, this is hardly new or unusual. Not that any of this matters. We all know Dede really won...
Doug should let it go. He's become a national embarassment.
the in box seems to have jumped the shark.
Jumped the shark has jumped the shark. Time to throw it under the bus.
What was funny was listening to Glenn Beck ask Hoffman if he'd bow to anyone (a snarky reference to Obama's show of respect to Japan's emperor)? Hoffman said no, which is of course completely false. Hoffman spent the entire campaign bowing to Beck, Sean Hannity and the rest of the extreme right national media.
The far right has truly become a cariciature of itself.
Hoffman's campaign manager has now un-unconceded, or something:
http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2009/11/doug_hoffman_picks_up_20_votes.html
"The campaign said Hoffman is not “un-conceding” the race, contrary to what the candidate said Monday when pressed by Glenn Beck on his national talk radio show. “What really matters is the count that is taking place today,” said Rob Ryan, Hoffman’s spokesman. “When we see the direction that is taking, we will make the decision.”
thanks for proving my point anon 10:23
Dear Sheeple please give this your scruitiny. I'm serious here.
Jude Seymour, Watertown Daily Times, had this headline as of 7:45 p.m. on 18 Nov -
"Hoffman: ACORN, Unions, Dems tampered with NY-23 ballots"
Now read the following posting contributed by Bret4207 on November 13th -
"Anon 9:21PM- Fear not. In the unlikely event Hoffman closes the gap to an uncomfortable margin cries of "election rigging" will spill forth like the waters of Niagara. Keith Olbermann and Rachael Maddow will address the obvious right wing conspiracy and the NYT will call for an investigation.
All is well, go back to sleep little sheeple......
November 13, 2009 8:30 AM"
And the bleat goes on, and the bleat goes on...
Furthermore, the election commissioner of the Jefferson Republican Party, call labled Hoffman's "assertions as absolutely false."
But this progressive wonders...what is that dastardly dredger of ditchs, Judge Drudge, saying about this on his Blog?
Trust me, I don't want to go there. Give up the caviar of Olbermann for the corrupted sardines of Drudge? Eeeewwwwwww
It's time for creepy Doug to go back to his own congressional district and crawl back under whatever rock it was he came from.
Oh, be kind. Telling Doug to crawl back under whatever rock he crawled out from? Cold man, cold.
Don't you know that Doug cries during those GEICO commercials..."so easy even a caveman can do it"
Do you know what it's like living under a rock?
Obviously, you above-ground dwelling Hollywood elitist snob, you DON'T!!!
