Breaking: Dede Scozzafava, Republican, endorses Democrat Bill Owens
Here's the statement issued by Republican Assemblywoman and former congressional candidate Dede Scozzafava a short time ago.
"You know me, and throughout my career I have always been an independent voice for the people I represent. I have stood for our honest principles, and a truthful discussion of the issues, even when it cost me personally and politically. For what it's worth, I've been hearing from Republican officials who had backed Scozzafava and members of her campaign team, who sharply disagree with her stance.
"It is in this spirit that I am writing to let you know I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same.
"It's not in the cards for me to be your representative, but I strongly believe Bill is the only candidate who can build upon John McHugh's lasting legacy in the U.S. Congress."

A lot of loyal Republicans, while holding their noses and looking the other way, worked to support her candidacy with the goal of keeping the 23rd one of three Republican NYS house seats.
This endorsement is a slap in the face, a betrayal and a breach of trust. Shame on you, Dede Scozzafava.
The GOP has lost its original sense of values ... Fiscal and foreign responsibility. The party has been hijacted by likes of Tom Delay and Karl Rove.

I'm disappointed in Dede. "Hell hath no fury...."
Say what you want about Dede, but at least she's true to her heart. Her views are not conservative and she couldn't support a platform that wasn't moderate to liberal.
Word for word ditto to anon 8:53. I admire her courage... which is one of the reasons I was going to vote for her.
