Dems say Hoffman is the man to beat

Democrats have shifted all their attacks to Conservative Doug Hoffman, as the NY-23 congressional race threatens to slip through the fingers of both major parties.

The Hill is reporting today that Democrats suspended all attacks against Republican Dede Scozzafava on October 20th.

They're firing now at Hoffman...
[S]ources in Hoffman's camp and among Democrats with knowledge of the race each
say private polls show a two-way contest between Hoffman and Owens, leaving
Scozzafava out in the cold."This race is neck and neck between Owens and
Hoffman," said DCCC spokesman Ryan Rudominer.

Initially Hoffman looked like the classic spoiler, poised to knock out Scozzafava while opening a path to victory for Democratic newcomer Bill Owens.

Now it appears that Hoffman could solidify conservative and Republican voters, eking out a victory.

Early on, Hoffman's team predicted that he would accomplish just this feat. They also forecast that Owens and Scozzafava would split the Democratic vote.

Five full days to go...

Doug Hoffman would be a return to the slash and burn politics that Rove and Cheney and Armey and Scooter Libby practiced for 8 years. We cannot afford to go back there. It got us a ruined Economy and turned a surplus into a deficit.
America said no more in 2008 and will again.

Hoffman is not a career politician, he just will be a mouthpiece for the ones that were and are now tied at the hips with Lobbyists..

If a conservative3 cannot win in a district that has not elected a democrat since the 1800s, then it is in worse shape than i thought.
And if a conservative does win it tells us nothing about the country. Only the republican party, which seems to be made up of the old south and some western states.

I know very little about Hoffman other than the people who endorse/support him.

This is enough to ensure that I will not be voting for him.

We will not settle anymore. We will not accept a Republican that votes like a Democrat. We want the conservative. He is us, period!

Without a doubt, Hoffman is a dangerous man. He knows NOTHING about any issues in this district. He's too busy appearing on national TV to come talk to us, the voters, or take part in real give and take exchanges with the other two candidates. His support comes from national, not local, organizations. If he wins...kiss the North Country good bye. We won't get ANY money from the feds. God help us if the Far Right takes over the Republican party completely.

"We won't get ANY money from the feds."

Which exactly what should be happening. If the "Gov't" would end the entitlement mindset and stick to their Constitutional mandate our taxes would plummet. Instead we have the "gimmee, gimmee, gimmee" mindset. THAT is what got us the economy we have today and it wasn't conservatives that did it. It was Frank and Dodd and Waters and the rest of the scum that brought us to this.

Open your eyes and put your hand in your OWN pockets.

"it wasn't conservatives"

Actually , it was. The Neo Conservatives that set it up to go to war in Iraq has cost us over One TRILLION dollars so far , and counting.
They never budgeted for it, they borrowed the money from China by asking for special funding and threatening any Democrat who voted against that borrowed spending of not being patriotic.
So, yes. conservatice economic policies and practices have been the big reason for the money problems. I think conservatives need to take their hand out of the pockets of people in China and put it in their own pockets to pay for the " grand ideas."

The word " man" is used loosely. He is afraid to speak publicly except to puppet masters. The term " wuss " might be more appropriate.

I will agree they didn't help which is why I say he Republicans left me. But if we're going to play that game, then how many trillions has LBJ's "Great Society" cost us? At least 3 trillion so far. How much have all the other entitlement programs cost us? NONE are successful, not one. Not in the sense of fulfilling their mandate in the manner prescribed or form an economic point of view. Even Social Security is a disaster, especially since LBJ established the practice of raiding it. And not one politician of either party had the backbone to shout "STOP!!!".

But the economy we have today is the result of the banking scandal which was precipitated by the housing crisis, which was the result of laws introduced, passed and supported by Liberal Dems like Franks, Dodd, etc and RINO's that didn't have the character to point out problem. It was also caused by unwise credit extension by bankers, by sheer greed and by plain stupidity by borrowers. I'm sorry, but when a fast food restaurant manager making $60K can purchase a $350K home with 100% financing....there's a problem. The loan never should have been considered and he should never have asked for it! But the laws in place said he could and the banks had to.

And THAT is the type of thing that got us here today.

Lot of truth there. No solutions on the horizon that I see. From any party, dem. rep. or conservative...just is not there...
You need to raise money and cut spending...both by big amounts...NO party has the guts to do both. Not ONE. and the conservatives are hiding from the truth if they will not admit that you have to raise revenue ( taxes) to begin to handle the deficit..no way around it..and please..trickle down is not even an option for years...it is only a theory, and all theories work, that is why they are theories..
since we cannot keep more of our money, at least with liberals you can keep more of your personal freedoms. that is what liberalism is..
