Thompson endorses Hoffman in 23rd District special election

From the Associated Press:

Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson is backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over the endorsed fellow Republican, Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, in the race to fill New York's 23rd Congressional seat.

In a letter calling for support from conservatives in the district and beyond, Thompson notes Hoffman opposes abortion. Scozzafava supports abortion rights.

This gives me two reasons why NOT to vote for Hoffman. The first is who is doing the endorsement and the second is why he is endorsing the candidate. Oh where is the Conservative Party of old which would stay out of one's personal life and work for a fiscally prudent government.

I don't really back Mr Hoffman for his stance on abortion rights but i do think he will do a far better job than the comptetition, Ms Scozzafava supports same sex marraige which i think is worse and for that reason i would vote for anyone other than her, and i am a republican.

An endorsement from Freed Thompson...who ran the worst Presidential primary campaign in recent memory...how much is that worth to a candidate?
