Liberal DailyKos website pans Democrat Owens
UPDATED: With link...
DailyKos is one of the most widely-read websites on the left and it has given Plattsburgh Democrat Bill Owens a pretty resounding thumbs-down.
The site praises Republican Dede Scozzafava's "social liberalism" and says that she "appears to be the most palatable option, but even she doesn't look any good beyond the social issues.
On Owens:
Owens isn't a registered Democrat, he's an independent. He's anti-gay marriage (because of "religious issues"), and also opposes the public option for health care. (He is, at least, reportedly pro-choice.)
So if you're keeping score, the two candidates are exactly the same, except that Owens isn't a member of his own party and opposes marriage equality. Yup, on the issues, Owens is actually to the right of Scozzafava.
For the record, DailyKos calls Conservative Doug Hoffman "a reliable wingnut."

Interesting. Link, please? Kos is a big site.
Get out of our district DailyKos? Bet that blogger couldn't find Oswego on a unmarked map.
A vote for Scozzafava is a vote for Obama to fail.
As a life long Democrat and a health care provider, I am angry and disappointed with our committee people. Really, an independent, really?? How is could they turn their backs on several good Democrats? Democrats who were interested in representing our diverse area. The party locals did not have the courage to choose one of them. Instead they went with the money guy. This decision is consistent with the current national party strategy, the politically expedient way. Money is corrupting our party just as it has the Republicans. As Brian had said earlier they really want to win. But at what cost? I think a real Democrat could have won, if the candidate had the true backing of the local and national organizations and their cash. It is sad to see the party of the working person end up hostage to money. I am appalled that Owens does not favor a public option for health care reform, and that he opposes gay marriage, I worry he may not really be prochoice. However, I plan to hold my nose and vote for him. I will pray for a real Democrat next time around.
